On the morning of 14th May 2014, China’s first LNG-powered tugboat was officially commenced in Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd.
Built for China National Offshore Oil Corp(CONNC hereafter), the vessel applies LNG as its power, an advanced environment-friendly hi-tech at international level.With a continuous power of 6500hp of its main engine, the vessel is 40.8M in length (B.P.), 11.6M in breadth (MLD), 5.5M in depth (MLD) and 60㎡of its LNG tanks, the vessel meets the requirement the CCS notations such as CSAD and CSMD. Compared with direct diesel tugboat, this LNG tugboat can completely meet the emission reduction of SOX and PM requirement and reduce 90% NOX and 20% CO2, which can help save more than 30% fuel fees.
Vice chief engineer Yu Hua from CNOOC and vice chief engineer Pan Heshun from CNOOC Gas&Power Group attended this commencement ceremony.
